| Cupping is included free of charge (with an existing session) upon request and/or if Jai feels it would benefit your treatment outcome. Cupping is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine practice which involves placing flame-heated glass globes (cups) on specific points (subos) on the body. The cup is applied to the skin forming an air-tight seal, the air inside the cup cools and contracts forming a partial vacuum, enabling the cup to suck the skin, pulling in soft tissue, and drawing blood to that area to encourage blood flow, Qi and body fluids such as blood and lymph flluid. The result is the cup creates an area of low pressure, causing the blood to gather under the cup near the surface of the skin. During a cupping treatment, the client experiences a mild pulling sensation which calms the sympathetic nerves and allows deep relaxation to move throughout the body. The general benefits of cupping are; improved circulation, purification of blood, regulation of the autonomic nervous system and an overall cooling effect. Cupping also reduces pain and swelling and speeds up the natural healing process in the specific areas of application. Cupping is included upon request and/or if Jai feels it would benefit your treatment outcome. Based on your particular skin pigmentation, it is possible that you may be left with mild to moderate reddish marks at the location of each cup. The marks generally fade quickly and should be completely gone within 2-3 days. |
